Artist's Description

One of the major pilgrim destination for Hindus in the Himalayas. It is near the source of the major tributory of the Ganga, the Alaknanda. It is situated at a height of over 10000 ft above sea level.

Padamvir Singh

I am 70 years old now. I began painting water colours and oils while at The Doon School, Dehradun, India, under the guidance of Rathin Mitra. Rathin did excellent linework and has sketched most of the significant monuments of Calcutta and also many other national monuments, cities, towns and landscapes. While in college in the early 70s I discovered the artist in me, when I began sketching with a passionate frenzy. That is the time I broke out of traditional forms and discovered Picasso and his contemporaries. Around this time I created a large number of watercolour landscapes with quick brush strokes creating patterns and colours that fascinated me.
